The story is told of a little boy who was on the street selling newspapers. He was so cold that he went up to a policeman and asked, “Mister, would you happen to know where a poor boy could find a warm place to sleep tonight?” The policeman looked down at the little boy and pointed, “Go down to that big white house and knock on the door. When the door opens up, just say, “John 3:16” and she will let you in.”
The boy ran down the road, knocked on the door and said, “John 3:16.” Right away the kind-looking lady offered him a seat by the warm fireplace. “Wow!” He thought to himself, “John 3:16…I don’t understand it, but it sure makes a cold boy warm.”
A few minutes later, the lady offered him some food to eat and he thought to himself, “John 3:16…I don’t understand it, but it sure makes a hungry boy full.” The lady then took him to a bathroom and gave him clean clothes and a towel. As he soaked in the tub of warm water and bubbles, he thought to himself, “John 3:16…I don’t understand it, but it sure makes a dirty boy clean.”
That night as the kind lady tucked him into bed and kissed him good night, he thought to himself, “John 3:16…I don’t understand it, but it sure makes a tired boy rested.” And by the end of the story, the little boy gave his heart and life to Jesus. He thought to himself as he sat there, “John 3:16…I don’t understand it, but it sure makes a lost boy feel saved.”
Well, John 3:16 came to big boys’ and girls’ rescue during the North Caribbean Conference Office Week of Prayer held from October 22 – 26, 2018. Five presenters considered John 3:16 from different angles, ensuring that God’s love permeated our hearts.
As Pastor Desmond James rocked us in the bosom of “God’s Love for the World,” the staff delighted in the opportunity to rest in that love. Pastor Wilmoth James set a fire in our hearts and we glowed in the warmth of “Divine Love in NCC.” Our mouths watered as digestion of Dr. Henry Peters’ full-course meal on “Reflections on Deliverance” took place. “Loves Coercion” by Pastor Hesketh Matthew challenged our response to God’s sacrifice for our salvation. And on the final day, Pastor Royston Philbert showered us with “Loves End Time Application” of the cleansing wave in our lives.
“The topic of love caught my attention; and it was so spiritual. I really, really enjoyed it!”
“I enjoyed the twists on John 3:16; I saw it in a new light!”
“I was elated to forget about the cares of the job for just one hour and spend time with co-workers celebrating God’s Word.”
“I was so blessed when we stopped to pray at 11:30 each morning!”
“I can’t wait for another office week of prayer!”
