Social media trendsetters encourage children to: Be A Pineapple – Stand tall, wear a crown and be sweet on the inside. Tasty lessons from the fruit were served with praise and prayers in the Edenic setting of sundown worship on May 25, 2018. This creative service was the brainchild of the Children’s Ministry Department of the East End Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church in Fat Hog’s Bay, Tortola.
The children were excited as they gathered at the church to be transported to the Long Bay Beach on Beef Island in the British Virgin Islands. At 6:00 p.m., worship began with prayer. Seated on blankets and tree stumps, the group sang hymns of praise as they observed the beautiful scenery.
For devotions, Sister Ceann Thompson, the Children’s Ministry Coordinator, led the children through scripture with the aid of the alphabet. Brother Alexander Thompson engaged the group in a discussion on the pineapple fruit and plant. He directed the children’s thoughts to the plant’s dependence on the roots and highlighted the conditions necessary for growth and fruit production. Those worshipping learnt that they, too, are dependent upon God for growth, strength and the development of characters for eternity. The object lesson using the pineapple also illustrated the benefits of the fruit to mankind and challenged all to be useful citizens.
The worship setting echoed with choruses of praise and prayer. After worship, the children enjoyed snacks and refreshing bits of pineapple.
