Bible Teacher

The North Caribbean Conference has vacancies for the following positions at the St. Thomas-St. John Seventh-day Adventist School

TITLE: Bible Teacher

SUPERVISOR: Principal

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree (Religion/Theology, Education preferred)

EXPERIENCE: Experience working with middle and/or high school aged children  

SALARY: Commensurate with experience

GRADES: 8 – 12

GENERAL OBSERVATIONS:

This position, at the St. Thomas/St. John Seventh-day Adventist School, requires a Christ- like commitment in the performance of duties.  “Whatsoever you do, do all to the glory of God” is an operative principle in fulfilling the duties of this position.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. To coordinate or assist in all programs that involves the spiritual development of students.
  2. To possess a good understanding of the Bible and Seventh-day Adventist theology.
  3. To establish a developmentally appropriate, positive, inclusive and safe learning environment that is conducive to learning.
  4. To show an uncompromised commitment to the Seventh-day Adventist Church, its teachings, and values.
  5. To assist students with making decisions for Christ and to prepare them for baptism in collaboration with the local church pastor.
  6. To coordinate or assist with outreach programs.
  7. To foster the spiritual growth and development of students.
  1. To prepare for assigned classes and provide lesson plans at designated times.
  2. To administer tests following school testing protocols and provide timely progress reports.
  3. To determine and support standards of classroom behavior, and uphold school-adopted discipline policies.
  4. To teach competently the required skills for the grade levels assigned.
  5. To keep in close touch with the parents, keeping them informed of student’s progress.
  6. To faithfully promote Christian Education, showing respect and confidence for the church, and for Christian Education.
  7. To adhere to a professional code of ethics.
  8. To follow the principles outlined in the Workers’/Teachers’ Handbook.
  9. To perform such other duties as may be duly assigned by the principal.
