Dr. Jamal Franklyn was born in the beautiful island of Barbados where he started preaching from the tender age of 7. He is the product of Christian parenting and the eldest of 2 brothers and 1 sister. Dr. Jamal served as a Youth Evangelist in the East Caribbean Conference and Caribbean Union of Seventh-day Adventists that shaped him for ministry.
Dr. Jamal’s pursuit of knowledge has been as boundless as his spirit. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology from Mexico, a Master’s Degree in Intercultural Studies from South Carolina, and a Doctorate in Urban Ministry from Liberty University in Virginia. His commitment to mentoring extends beyond academics, as reflected in his role as an invested Master Guide and Senior Youth Leader.
For seven transformative years, Dr. Jamal served as Youth Director in the South Bahamas Conference, and now leads with passion as the Youth Director for the Allegheny West Conference, headquartered in Columbus, Ohio. From Ohio to West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Maryland, his influence inspires young hearts to find their purpose.
Dr. Jamal is married to his bestfriend Evelyn. Fluent in Spanish, their shared passion is ministering to multicultural youth, igniting their talents, and empowering them to use their gifts for Christ. When not serving his community, Dr. Jamal finds joy in the melodic keys of the keyboard, the wisdom found in books, the exploration of new destinations, and the thrill of track and field. Above all, his heart belongs to God, and his life is guided by the unwavering truth of Psalm 46:10: ‘Be still, Let Go and Let God!'”
